🌆 Is Jackson Ready To Be A Big City? 🌆

Let's not guess because this question needs to be addressed!

Good Morning & Happy Sunday!

So here’s a bit of data to start off with. 💤 (Stay With Us!) 😅
Since 2020, Tennessee has consistently ranked among the top 10 to 12 fastest-growing states in the U.S., according to various sources. Between 2020 and 2022, the state experienced a 1.8% growth rate and for the first time surpassed 7 million residents. This milestone is crucial, as the next 10 years will shape the future of cities like Jackson for the next 50 years.

Alright Here We Go!

Over the last several years, as people from all over the country begin to move, Tennessee has started to become an ideal place to start anew! Places like Chattanooga, Knoxville, Murfreesboro, Clarksville, and Nashville are leading the pack! (Nashville is by far one of the biggest driving forces!) This leads to what is known as the spillover effect.

🌊 The Spillover Effect 🌊

The “Spillover Effect” is where the people living in a city or the people looking to move to that city choose or are forced to change their plans or relocate. This could be due to:

  • Unaffordable Housing: The high cost of housing in their current city. 🏡

  • Better Job Opportunities: Availability of better jobs in a new location. 💲

  • Cheaper Cost of Living: Overall lower living expenses. 😃

  • Wanting To Start A Family: Desire for a better environment for raising a family or future family. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

There are other reasons, but these are the main four. Now, factor in how Jackson will potentially attract people fleeing cities like Memphis, Chicago, and St. Louis, or those being priced out of cities like Nashville, San Diego, Tampa, Atlanta, Austin, and Raleigh.

Many cities have such a high demand to live there that residents will eventually spill over into Jackson. With Jackson becoming a new beacon in West Tennessee, it’s important to discuss its outlook.

⏳️ The Current Outlook Of Jackson ⏳️

No matter the criticism Jackson receives, no one can deny that the Hub City is consistently growing with new developments happening all over the city. (Even South Jackson is getting something this time. 😅)

  • Economic Growth: Jackson is projected to see gradual but stable economic growth over the next five years, driven by new businesses and city development projects. 📈

  • Real Estate Market: Real Estate prices should remain flat for 2024, but 2025 may tell a different story as the possibility of interest rates hikes loom. 🏘️

  • Job Market: The healthcare, education, and manufacturing sectors will take center stage as they will see the most growth. 💰️

  • Community & Lifestyle: An engaged community leads to a nurturing environment for families and young professionals. There has been an increase in community-focused events. Maintaining playgrounds, parks, and creating cultural, recreational, and educational initiatives is crucial for enhancing the city’s lifestyle. 🏞️

🔮 Jackson’s Bright Future 🔮

This is where things get very interesting for Jackson because the potential for the city to become the Nashville of West Tennessee is very possible.

Here are several key projects that will help shape Jackson’s Future:

All of these projects sound great for Jackson but mean nothing if these problems are not corrected.

🛑 The Issues That Must Be Addressed 🛑

Let’s not beat around the bush, if you live in Jackson crime is a significant issue! Here are the critical problems that MUST be addressed:

  • Crime

  • Substance Abuse

  • Housing

  • Decent Jobs

  • Education

  • Healthcare Access

  • Entertainment Options

These are just our thoughts, and we’re always open to hearing what you have to say! Take a brief moment and answer our quick poll to let us know what issue is holding Jackson back!
