For years, Jackson residents have been vocal about one thing: We need more grocery store options!
Now, exciting news is finally making its way through the city and this time, it looks like it could really happen. 🎉

Let’s dive into everything we know so far!

🏗️ The Plans For Columns 3 🏗️

The Columns shopping area has been a huge part of Jackson’s growth over the years, but the next phase — Columns 3 — could take it to a whole new level.

Gary A. Taylor, the developer behind Columns 3, has included a grocery store as part of the upcoming expansion plans. While they haven’t announced which grocery brand will move in yet, just the idea of a new store would easily make residents excited.

Columns 3 is being developed right along Interstate 40, an ideal location for any major brand that wants to attract not just locals, but also travelers and visitors passing through Jackson. Easy access from the interstate is a huge advantage, and big retailers usually jump at the chance to build in spots with high traffic flow.

This is a big deal because:

• It would give Jackson residents more grocery options.

• It would bring new jobs and economic growth.

• It could draw even more businesses to the surrounding area.

And let’s be honest... a new grocery store could be the spark that leads to even more upgrades across the entire shopping corridor. 🔥

While the development is still in its early stages, the fact that a grocery store is officially part of the plans is a huge step forward for a city that’s been asking for this for a long time.

👀 A Bit Of Speculation 👀

Of course, the big question on everyone’s mind is: Which grocery store is coming?

While no official brand has been revealed yet, there are a few very interesting possibilities based on the location and current trends. Here’s some fun speculation:

Publix?
Last year, residents in Collierville (just outside Memphis) were overjoyed when they heard they might be getting a Publix. If Publix is looking to expand even further into West Tennessee, Jackson could easily be next on their list. Publix is known for its high-quality stores and loyal customer base — and landing one here would be a huge win.

Hy-Vee?
Hy-Vee is a popular grocery chain mainly based in the Midwest, but they announced last year that they are planning to expand into Tennessee. While Hy-Vee isn’t as well known in our area yet, their stores are massive, often including everything from full restaurants to clothing sections. If they want to make a splash in West Tennessee, Columns 3 would be a great starting point.

Trader Joe’s?
Everyone loves Trader Joe’s — and it could make a lot of sense here! Right now, West Tennessee only has one Trader Joe’s, located in Germantown. Having a location in Jackson would not only serve local residents but could also pull in shoppers from smaller towns nearby who don’t currently have access to one.

Something Local?
While it’s possible that a regional grocery chain or a local market could take the spot, it’s less likely — especially given the prime location next to I-40. Big national brands typically prioritize locations with heavy highway access to maximize exposure. However, if a local or regional chain steps up with strong financial backing, it’s always a possibility!

At this point, it’s still a guessing game — but the possibilities are definitely exciting!

🛒 Residents Want Another Grocery Option 🛒

If you’ve lived in Jackson for any amount of time, you know this isn’t a new conversation.

Residents have been calling for another grocery store for years. While we’re grateful for the stores we do have — Walmart, Kroger, Aldi, Food Giant, and others — many people feel like variety is missing.

Some of the biggest complaints we’ve heard include:

• Limited organic or specialty options

• Crowded shopping experiences, especially during weekends

• Not enough competition to drive better prices and service

A new grocery store could help solve all of those issues, and offer Jacksonians the kind of choices people in bigger cities already enjoy.

Plus, it would be another signal that Jackson is growing and that more good things are on the horizon for our city. 🌟

For now, we’ll have to wait and see what unfolds or what brands makes its move into Columns 3.
But one thing’s for sure — the excitement is real, and Jackson residents are ready! 🛒
