🚗The BlueOval City Threat No One Is Talking About!🚗
This could be the downfall of Blue Oval City!
Here’s To Another Beautiful Sunday!
So this topic has the potential to not only impact Jackson, but West Tennessee as a whole.
Tennessee has been seeing rapid growth over the last 10 years and despite many challenges the state's growth has only accelerated over the last 5 years! The 3 leading forces behind this growth are the manufacturing, healthcare and automotive sectors. 🚘️

🏆️ Largest Investment In Tennessee History! 🏆
A $5.6 Billion Dollar, 4,100 acre facility is what the Ford Motor Company announced in 2021 that they will be building in Tennessee. Putting this into perspective, $5.6 Billion Dollars is what the country of Barbados generates in GDP (Gross Domestic Product) each year. So this is not a small amount by any means!
Ford’s all-electric plant, Blue Oval City goal is to produce approximately 500k electric vehicles per year and is expected to be fully operational in 2025.
Why Ford Chose Tennessee?
The main reasons Ford CEO Jim Farley said that the company chose Tennessee are its affordability, the cleanest energy through the Tennessee Valley Authority, and the state's business-friendly environment. Many large companies and corporations are looking for places to reinvest that have all three of these benefits.
This will help persuade other companies to see that Tennessee might be the place for them to be as well, which may lead to a new surge in higher-paying jobs across the state. Ford plans to use Tennessee as a blueprint for their EV future and hopes that Blue Oval City will further establish the company in the competitive EV world.
📈 The Creation Of Over 30,000 Jobs! 📈
The Blue Oval City project plans to add over 30,000 jobs to West Tennessee and over 6,000 jobs at the facility itself. The 6,000 onsite jobs are estimated to pay between $29 - $45 per hour, which could help many people break into the middle class for the first time.
Building this state-of-the-art facility is one thing, but training 6,000 employees to use high-tech equipment is another. This is why the state of Tennessee invested $40 million and created a training program with the Tennessee College of Applied Technology to ensure the state can handle this new demand.
Additionally, Jackson will have dedicated buses just to take workers in Jackson to and from Blue Oval City. This initiative will have a direct impact on Jackson, making it easier for residents to access these new job opportunities.
The 24,000 off-site jobs will primarily be in supporting roles such as:
Construction Workers
Engineers
Architects
Project Managers
Electricians
Plumbers
Truck Drivers
Warehouse Workers
Parts Suppliers
Maintenance Technicians
Public Transport Workers
Real Estate Agents
And the list goes on!
Stanton, TN, has a population of fewer than 500 residents as of 2022, and Blue Oval City will be adding over 6,000 people to the city's workforce in the next couple of years. This will add to Stanton’s population almost overnight and help the city grow in ways most couldn’t have imagined just a few years ago.
🤯 Why This Could Change Everything! 🤯
The 3 biggest factors that may impact Blue Oval City are the following:
Supply Chain Constraints: Many of the components that go into EV batteries are not made in the U.S., which means everything has to be shipped from around the world. For this to work, every link in the supply chain must function properly. This is one of the biggest lessons learned from the 2020 pandemic. The CEOs of Mazda, Ford, Tesla, GM, Toyota, and many others have all spoken out about supply chain constraints in the last few years.
Economic Downturn: The global economy is in an economic downturn. At this point in time, most consumers cannot afford to pay the prices being asked for brand new vehicles (the average cost is $55,242). Inflation is still up and will continue to play a huge role in U.S. consumer spending, leaving many consumers feeling pinched for any additional purchases.
China: China dumping electric cars on the U.S. market. This is the black swan in the EV equation and the biggest threat to EV manufacturers worldwide. Gordon Chang, who is considered a China expert, said that China is using extremely predatory business practices and violating many trade agreements to kill U.S. manufacturing jobs.
This is the one that will have the biggest impact on the U.S. Markets, Economy, and West Tennessee because they tie into 2 of the 3 on the list.
🙊 The Threat No One Is Talking About! 🙊
The threat to Blue Oval City is real, and it’s slowly starting to trickle out in the media. China is planning to enter the U.S. car market and will dump millions of electric vehicles on the market.
Right now, China produces over 6 million electric cars per year! This is greater than the number of electric vehicles that both the United States and Europe produce combined. This would not be an issue if the average Chinese consumer was buying these electric cars, but this is not the case.
Pictured is 1 of 100s of China’s many EV graveyards that are all over the country. (Note: Most of these cars are 100% functional.)
Some experts are already predicting that China has the capacity to produce 40 million EV’s per year, which far exceeds the demand of both Europe and The U.S. which are their ideal markets. Adding to this is that all Chinese EV manufacturers are heavily subsidized by the Chinese government.
This gives them additional leverage when it comes to lowering their prices to levels that would force all other EV makers to either go bankrupt or get the government to bail them out with taxpayers' money.
Double Whammy
The other side to this equation is that China can produce their EV’s at a third of the price that U.S. automakers can. Why? Because the primary resources needed to make the EV batteries come from China.
Lithium
Cobalt
Nickel
Manganese
Graphite
Copper
China either has the majority of these rare earth minerals/metals needed to produce EVs or is the main processor of them.
Another layer to this is China also has cheaper labor than both the U.S. and Europe. This puts China in a position where they can come into the U.S. market and take massive market share from U.S. automakers like Ford, Chevy, Tesla, etc., and cause pure chaos in the U.S. automotive market. This would immediately lead to mass layoffs across the auto sector.
What Should Tennesseans Do?
The first thing is to understand the problem, share this far and wide, and call or write to your local leaders. Push this all the way until it reaches the governor's office because if this is mishandled, it will be a massive blow to West Tennessee.
As of right now, the United States has placed a 100% tariff (tax) on EVs coming from China, and Europe is considering doing the same.
Please don’t read this weeks newsletter as a political piece because its not! This will impact everyone in the automotive industry regardless of political affiliation.
Call the Governor's Office in Nashville and ask them what they are planning to do about China's plans to dump millions of cars in the U.S. market!
